Frequently Asked Questions

What does our free initial consultation entail?
We visit with each prospective client to learn his or her needs and explain what Helping Hands In Home Care has to offer. We encourage family participation. As part of this visit, we gather important information about the client's functional status, general health condition and any special needs or circumstances--like special diets, activity precautions, allergies, etc. That way, you can be confident we are prepared for dealing safely with your particular situation.

Does Helping Hands In Home Care communicate with family members?
Most definitely. Often it is a family member who engages us to care for a loved one. But in any case, as long as we have the permission of our client or responsible party, we want to be in touch with family members, whether they live locally or at a distance. Good communication is at the heart of good service. We encourage involvement of a client's loved ones in planning our services, and we want to keep them involved on an ongoing basis.

Are there a minimum number of hours required?
Helping Hands In Home Care asks that clients engage us for four hours or more at a time. We do not require a minimum number of visits or hours per week.

Does Medicare cover our services?
No, since Helping Hands In-Home Care does not deliver skilled medical or nursing care, neither Medicare nor most private insurers pay for our services. Some long-term care insurance policies do cover our services.

Does Helping Hands In Home Care require a deposit before scheduling services?
Yes, in order to commit to scheduling services, we request a deposit equal to one half of the first month's estimated charges. Whenever services are terminated for any reason, the deposit is promptly returned, minus any outstanding unpaid balance.

Must I give advance notice before discontinuing services?
No. Our Service Agreement asks that you provide reasonable notice if possible, but this is not a requirement. If at any time you are dissatisfied with our services and would like to cancel, you may do so immediately and without penalty.
